The GlaxoSmithKline IMPACT Awards target community-based healthcare nonprofits in the Philadelphia area that provide access to healthcare for the underserved.  Up to ten organizations in Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lancaster, Lehigh, Montgomery, Northampton or Philadelphia Counties in Pennsylvania and the City of Camden in New Jersey will be awarded $40,000 each.

Autism Speaks Community Grants webinar TODAY at 1:00

Autism Speaks Family Services Community Grants fund proposals from established organizations, both non-profit and for-profit, that support new or expanded programs for individuals with autism. Organizations interested in submitting an application must address one of the three areas of need:

Education
Recreation/Community Activities
Young Adult/Adult Services

We look for proposals that address the following key elements:

• Field Building
• Number of Individuals Served
• Cost Effectiveness
• Innovation and Creativity
• Ability to be Replicated by Other Organizations
• Credibility of the Organization
• Sustainability/Viability of the Project

As a national leader in the movement toward full inclusion, the National Inclusion Project is proud to partner with community organizations that are seeking to programmatically open doors for ALL children to learn, live, and play together. Through training, consulting, and funding, the Project will meet organizations where they are and help them to implement quality programs that impact children and families in their communities.  The National Inclusion Project will focus on programs that fulfill its mission.

To be eligible for a partnership, your program must be a non-profit or public organization. The National Inclusion Project is unable to support any for-profit programs.

NJAET TECHNOLOGY PROJECT GRANTS
GUIDELINES
School Year 2011 - 2012

Goal:
NJAET’s goal is to financially assist teachers to develop and implement creative educational technology projects that engage New Jersey’s students in effective learning with technology integration based upon the current CCCS. These projects will be shared with other educational technologists.

Number of Grants:
A total of four (4) grants may be awarded, one in each of the following grade categories (PK—2), (3 – 5), (6 – 8), and (9 – 12). If any of these categories fails to receive any worthy applications, (as determined by the Grant Application Evaluation Committee formed by the NJAET Executive Board), no grant will be awarded in that category.

Amount of Grants:
The maximum amount of each grant will not exceed $2,000.

Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy

2012 National Grant Program Application Deadline is September 9, 2011.  

 

 The Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy is pleased to announce our 2012 National Grant competition.  The Foundation's grant-making program seeks to develop or expand projects designed to support the development of literacy skills for adult primary care givers and their children.  A total of approximately $650,000 will be awarded; no grant request should exceed $65,000.
      In order to be considered eligible for a grant, an organization must meet the following criteria:
-The organization must have current nonprofit or public status and have been in existence for two or more years as of the date of the application
-The organization must have maintained fiscal accountability
-The organization must operate an instructional literacy program that has been in existence for at least 2 years, and includes one or more of the following components:  literacy for adults; parent education; pre-literacy or literacy instruction for children pre-k to grade 3; intergenerational literacy activities.

 

 

National Center for Family Literacy Offers Grants for Implementation of New Online Resources

The National Center for Family Literacy is accepting grant applications from education and community organizations working to provide support for Latino and other families whose members want to earn college degrees. Made possible with funding from the MetLife Foundation, the grants are designed to expand the reach of the Family Literacy - Community College Partnership Initiative to communities and programs across the U.S.

The grant program is intended to broaden the availability and targeted use of a recently developed comprehensive set of online tools for local organizations, schools, and community colleges. The tools are designed to encourage families to learn about attending college and to help communities build pathways from family literacy and GED programs to community college. The resources include online lessons with activities for Spanish-speaking families to help increase their investment in and pursuit of educational opportunities; a program guide for family and adult literacy programs; a case study on partnerships between family literacy programs and community colleges; a practical guide on how to make those partnerships more effective; and an examination of the impediments to attaining a postsecondary education, including how literacy programs can help with the transition and increase college graduation rates for non-traditional students.

Examples of grantee implementation can include community colleges and literacy programs establishing partnerships to improve the transition and success of non-traditional students in postsecondary educational settings; community colleges and literacy programs working to align GED instruction with the skills and knowledge needed for college and careers; community-based programs and schools beginning or enhancing their work with families to promote investments in education and successful pathways to college; and community colleges and literacy programs working to strengthen existing partnerships and improve upon non-traditional student transitions into postsecondary education. Grantees may use one or all of the toolkit resources in their proposed project.

Ten grants of up to $25,000 will be awarded.

NJDOE - Grant Opportunity

According to a presentation from the NJDOE at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Grantwriters' Conference on May 16th, there is only one new NGO currently online. The Career Equity Resource Center  NGO is to support the intent of the Carol D. Perkins Career Center and Technical Education Improvement Act of 2006. It will establish a Career Equity Resource Center.

Only one award will be given.
Amount: $345,000.

Talent Search Competition Peer Reviewers Needed

The Department of Education (Department) is anticipating a large number of applicants and seeking reviewers to evaluate discretionary grant applications for the FY 2011 Talent Search (TS) Program competition.  To be selected as a peer reviewer you must first register on the Field Reader System no later than December 17, 2010.

GTECH Afterschool Advantage Program (Deadline: Rolling)

The GTECH After School Advantage Program is a national community investment program, which provides non-profit community agencies and public schools with state-of-the-art computer labs. These computer centers are designed to provide inner-city children aged five to 15 with a meaningful, yet fun, learning experience during the critical after-school hours, in a safe environment. This initiative is meant to provide an otherwise unavailable educational experience and bridge the digital divide among at-risk children. By applying our knowledge and expertise to this type of program GTECH hopes to increase children's interest in careers in computers and provide them with the necessary tools to help them become more competitive in school and in today's job market.

• After School Advantage Programs have been implemented in states where GTECH is located nationwide (this pertains to states where GTECH is the online lottery services provider).

•  GTECH donates up to $15,000 in state-of-the-art computers, on-line technology, computer software and volunteer hours to each after-school program in inner-city communities where the Company's offices are located nationwide.

•  The Program targets minority and at-risk children aged five to 15.

•  GTECH employees will work with each agency to design and develop a fully operational Computer Center.

2011 Summer Home Delivery & Food Backpacks Demo Projects

The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) was created to provide nutrition benefits during the summer to children living in low-income areas. These children were thought to be at risk of hunger or nutritional deficiencies when they were not receiving free or reduced price meals in school. This has been further supported by research demonstrating that food insecurity among children increases during the summer months.

Kids in Need Teacher Grants

 

Kids In Need Teacher Grants provide K-12 educators with funding to provide innovative learning opportunities for their students. The Kids In Need Foundation helps to engage students in the learning process by supporting our most creative and important educational resource — our nation's teachers.

How many Teacher Grants are awarded?

Teacher Grant awards range from $100 to $500 each and are used to finance creative classroom projects. The number of grants awarded varies from year to year, depending on the amount of the funds being requested. Typically, 200-300 grants are awarded each year.

Who is eligible?

All certified K-12 teachers in the U.S. are eligible.

What type of projects are funded?

At the end of the academic year, teachers report on the outcome of the funded projects. Some examples of winning projects include:

§  Twilight Zone "Eye of the Beholder" - This project consisted of remaking a Twilight Zone episode in its entirety from the original script. Students cast the drama, built the sets, designed and rigged the lighting and sound, applied the make-up, ran the cameras, edited the video tape, designed the titles and credits, and put on an event for the premiere showing of the completed video.

§  Charged Cars - Math in Motion - Students designed and built a battery-operated vehicle with a wheelbase of 40 cm designed to be mathematically accurate to travel and stop at any designated point between 1 and 10 meters.

Ocean First Foundation announces $136,000 in grant awards. We salute this "good neighbor" who is stepping up by dedicating an addtional $300,000 to support arts and cultural organizations in New Jersey in 2010.

Child Nutrition and Fitness Initiative Breakfast Grant

Schools currently participating in the National Dairy Council’s “Fuel Up to Play 60” program, an initiative designed to improve nutrition and physical activity schools, can apply to receive up to $3,000 in funding. To be eligible for the Breakfast Grant, schools must also have support from their school principal, district school nutrition director and school nutrition manager, have school enrollment of at least 500 and demonstrate an opportunity to raise their breakfast participation.
